Uber Boat by Thames Clippers
Lifesaving partnership on the Thames.
The RNLI is joining forces with Uber Boat by Thames Clippers in an exciting three-year partnership which will see the London’s River Bus operator share important water safety messages and raise vital funds for the charity.
Uber Boat by Thames Clippers has operated a high speed river bus service since 1999 and now has a fleet of 17 high-speed catamarans serving 24 piers, from Putney Pier in the west to Barking Riverside Pier in the east. The service is used by commuters, visitors and Londoners and in 2022 almost exactly 23 years since they began, carried its 50 millionth customer.
As part of the three-year partnership, Uber Boat by Thames Clippers has committed to contributing money to the RNLI and placing contactless donation points at the café bars on board the boats and at North Greenwich Pier for passengers to also donate. Uber Boat by Thames Clippers will also play RNLI video content on its vessels to raise awareness of what the charity does and share vital water safety messages.
It’s a natural coming together of two organisations who are heavily present on the river Thames with the RNLI operating four lifeboat stations along these waters including its busiest lifeboat station of all at Tower.
Liam Hather, Chief Financial Officer, Uber Boat by Thames Clippers said: ‘We care about every passenger who comes on board our vessels, so we are proud to support the work of the RNLI, to enable the organisation to continue providing a reassuring presence on the Thames for all of us. We look forward to working together to keep people in London safe.’
Neil Withers, Area Lifesaving Manager for the Thames lifeboat stations, said: ‘We are excited to have partnered with Uber Boat by Thames Clippers as we’ll be able to reach more people who live, work and visit London with our water safety messages.’
